A New Bi-Annual Competition
Starting in autumn 2025, GRANSHAN will introduce a new competition, alternating every two years with the established GRANSHAN Type Design Competition. This evolution reflects our commitment to not just designing typefaces—but showcasing their real-world impact and cultural significance.

The Supporting Foundries Club Shaping GRANSHAN’s Future
At the heart of this initiative is the newly established GRANSHAN Supporting Foundries Club—a select group of eight leading mid-size type foundries: Cadson Demark, Indian Type Foundry, Parachute, Sandoll Inc, TypeTogether, TypeType, Typotheque, 29LT who will actively shape the competition. Their expertise, creativity, and commitment will play a crucial role in ensuring this new chapter thrives.
Thanks to their financial support, GRANSHAN will transition from a purely voluntary organization to one with a dedicated team—allowing us to professionally develop and run the competition for the first time.
