Tarek Atrissi is a Lebanese-Dutch designer and one of the most recognized creative figures in the Arab world. He is the founder of Tarek Atrissi Design (www.atrissi.com), a design studio based in Barcelona with offices in The Netherlands. Known for its typographic and cross-cultural approach, the studio has produced influential projects across the Middle East, gaining Atrissi international acclaim. His awards include the German Design Award, the D&AD Award, the Type Directors Club New York (TDC), the Adobe Design Achievement Awards, and the Brand Impact Awards, among others. In 2017, he was named among the 100 most influential Lebanese professionals worldwide.

Tarek has lived and worked in Lebanon, The Netherlands, Qatar, Dubai, Spain, Colombia, and the United States—an experience that shaped his multicultural and multilingual design practice. He speaks Arabic, French, English, Dutch, and Spanish. He holds degrees from the American University of Beirut, the Utrecht School of the Arts, and the School of Visual Arts in New York, with a postgraduate in type design from Cooper Union. He received distinguished alumni awards from both the American University of Beirut and SVA New York.

His work has been exhibited internationally, including in solo shows in Kuwait, Qatar, and Amsterdam.

Atrissi is an Associate Professor of Practice at the American University of Beirut, and has taught at the American University of Dubai, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, and the Utrecht School of the Arts, as well as serving as Visiting Professional-in-Residence at Michigan State University. He has lectured in over 20 countries and served as jury member and jury president for major design competitions.

As principal of Tarek Atrissi Design, he has led projects for clients such as Apple, BBC, Mathaf, Saudia Airlines, and UNESCO. He also founded ArabicTypography.com, designing Arabic and bilingual typefaces widely used across the Arab world.
