GRANSHAN

The GRANSHAN story began twice: Once when Edik Ghabuzyan convinced the Armenian Ministry of Culture in 2008 to hold a type competition to promote the quality of Armenian type in particular, and once when Edik Ghabuzyan and Boris Kochan met in 2009 during a study trip organized by the Typographischen Gesellschaft München.

The Founding of the Foundation

After its foundation in 2008, GRANSHAN was organised from 2010 to 2015 as a cooperation project between the Armenian Ministry of Culture and the Typographische Gesellschaft München (tgm). After the Armenian Ministry of Culture withdrew its funding, the GRANSHAN Foundation e.V. was founded in Munich on 7 September 2016 by the protagonists around Edik Ghabuzyan and Boris Kochan: the founding members laid the basis for what GRANSHAN is today.

The Foundation today

To this day, it is a small group of members who, with their vision and commitment, are enthusiastic about promoting scripts, typefaces and typography with a focus beyond Latin. The founding members have since been joined by Veronika Burian and Pavlo Kochan.

The Foundation tomorrow

Soon there will be the opportunity to become a supporting member of the association ...
