Kyuha Shim

Designer, Researcher and Educator

Kyuha Shim is a designer, researcher and educator based in Pittsburgh. He is an Assistant Professor in the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University, where he is Director of Computational Creativity Lab. He has been awarded residencies and fellowships at Jan van Eyck Academie (2013-4), Frans Masereel Centrum (2017) and Facebook Analog Research Lab (2019).
​He also previously worked at LUST, MIT Senseable City Lab, and Vinyl. His work has been exhibited internationally as places including Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, Museu Nacional da República, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea and ggg Gallery in Tokyo and in design festivals including AGI Open, Beijing Design Week, London Design Festival, Typojanchi Biennial and Seoul Design Olympic. He is the author of GRAPHIC #37: Introduction to Computation (Propaganda, 2016) and is working on forthcoming book entitled Computational Making in Graphic Design.
